A New Home for Home Care

Released: 10/3/2019

The Visiting Nursing Association of Western New York (VNA) has officially moved its Erie County operations to 650 Airborne Parkway in Cheektowaga.

The need for the new space was largely due to the ongoing growth and evolution of the VNA. Previously operating out of three separate buildings along Wehrle Drive, this centralized office will make a huge difference to the organization.

“With everyone now under one roof, we can streamline workflows and work more efficiently — which only means good things for our staff, patients and our community,” said Judy Baumgartner, president of the VNA.

Throughout the entire construction and move planning process, the VNA staff was encouraged to ask questions and make suggestions for the new office. Staff involvement ranged from participating in a furniture fair to test out chairs, to participating in surveys to voice any concerns or questions about the new office.

“We really could not have accomplished so much over the last year without our amazing staff. All of our various move-related committees were so incredibly dedicated to making this new office the best it could possibly be. We welcomed suggestions from our team, no matter where they came from. The collaboration with our partners at Uniland Construction was also imperative to the success of our move. They were fantastic to work with,” continued Baumgartner.

The new VNA office has state-of-the-art video teleconferencing technology, 10 conference rooms, a café by Buffalo Strive and a USP800 certified infusion pharmacy that is twice as large as the previous pharmacy.

Overall, the new office totals 45,000 square feet, where 200 employees will work every day.  There are also designated “touch down” spaces for the 350 clinicians to come into the office after being out in the field to perform their duties.

“As the healthcare landscape continues to shift toward outpatient and home care, we are so proud of the VNA family for their achievements in providing best in class home health care. The team is second to none.  With their new office space, we are confident they will be even better equipped to continue growing and leading in the home care industry,” said Jody Lomeo, president and CEO of Kaleida Health.

The VNA is the largest certified home health agency in Western New York and the fastest growing entity throughout all of Kaleida Health. The agency provides care for more than 27,000 patients annually, performing more than 530,000 home visits.

Baumgartner added, “To me, this new building is all about setting the foundation for future growth. We want to keep growing and evolving and this space allows us to do so. We are so excited to finally move into our new location and continue to provide the best home care to our community.”
